Intellectual Assets Manager

  • Purpose:

The IA Manager is accountable for the fit between Calyxia’s general strategy and operations, including R&D, and the company’s IP strategy. She/he identifies and protects the company’s intellectual assets and proposes adaptation of the IP strategy to the legal and business environment evolutions, namely through continuous follow-up of competition, potential suppliers and clients. She/he acts as the point of reference for all Calyxia’s employees concerned by his activity, and coaches/trains them as needed, and is a key player in all Committees involving IP. 


  • Responsibilities include:
    • Proposing IP strategy, including licensing in/out, and trade secrets/patenting policies, and provides regular updates following competitive analysis, market and technology inputs evolutions
    • Managing and executing competitive intelligence for the whole value chain, from existing and potentially new raw materials to customer applications
    • Managing and executing IP and regulation law evolution analyses, and providing upper management with guidance concerning implications for the Company of actual and forecasted evolutions
    • Providing guidance to senior management on licensing and business transactions involving intellectual property
    • Executing IP Strategy; namely
      • Identification of patentable inventions concerning Calyxia’s technologies and processes
      • Identification of know-how and means of detecting, qualifying, valuing, and protecting trade secrets
    • Supervising the activities of outside IP counsels, namely filing and prosecution of patents applications, patentability, and freedom to operate studies, and argumentation in response to office actions
    • Providing IP coaching and training to employees as needed


  • Qualifications include:
    • Ideally around 3 years’ experience in an environment at the interface between business and IP matters, including experience with patent portfolio management
    • Ability to develop and communicate efficiently strategic plans necessary to provide a strong IP position for the Company’s products
    • Leadership, agility and communication; ability to decide in a complex environment, and to collaborate with all stakeholders of the Company 
    • A technical background in chemistry / chemical engineering would be a plus
