On our mission to bring tasty, safe, sustainable cultured meat to the world, we are looking for a passionate Senior IP Manager to support the company's growth. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal & IP, your role will be to deploy the IP strategy and contribute actively to the IP culture at GOURMEY.
At GOURMEY, you will report to the Head of Legal, Elise.
What will you be responsible for?
- Challenge and deploy patent strategy.
- Identifying innovations & technical competitive advantages of GOURMEY, evaluating protection relevancy, and suggesting a tactic of protection.
- Conducting IP studies in close collaboration with R&D teams.
- Patent drafting and examination in interaction with R&D teams and with external councils.
- Managing GOURMEY’s patents portfolio.
- Managing patent watch to ensure a complete understanding of the patent landscape by the teams.
- Being an active partner to develop an IP & confidentiality culture (training, tools, new processes implementation…).
- Manage IP-related contracts, at least NDAs and MTAs.
- Support to fundraising regarding IP matters.
- As a plus: manage trademarks portfolio.
What about you?
- M.Sc. and/or Ph.D. in (Industrial) Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioprocessing of Stem Cell Biology, Food Chemistry, Food Industry, Food Science, or a closely related discipline.
- European and/or US Patent Attorney.
- At least 8 years of experience in the IP field, either in a patent law firm or in the industry (ideally both), preferably the biotechnology or the food industry.
- Strong analytical and writing skills.
- Critical thinking skills. Capable of taking a step back.
- Efficient with patent databases, patent drafting, and patent examination.
- Proactivity.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, while working autonomously.
- Business oriented.
- Fluent in both English and French, both written and spoken. We are an international team, but for this specific role, French is a must-have.
- Passionate about GOURMEY’s mission to bring to market delicious & sustainable foods through innovation.
- Willingness to collaborate with all team members, to upskill on other areas of IP.
- Enthusiastic, with a strong work ethic and self-motivation; a sense of ownership and responsibility to drive outcomes. A positive, can-do attitude.
